AA artillery shells hit BE battalion in Ann, kill 6 soldiers

Min Shin Saw, Narinjara News, 20 October 2024

The artillery shells, fired by the Arakan Army (AA), hit the battlefield engineer battalion (BE) near the western command in Ann town of Arakan State, where the intense fighting was going on, resulting in the death of six junta soldiers,  said a reliable military source.

"The fighting turns intense and the junta soldiers are resisting with all forces. However, the AA's artillery shells hit the BE battalion destroying the barracks. Six junta soldiers, including a sergeant, were killed," added the source.

In addition, the junta is conducting airstrikes with fighter jets on Ann targeting the mountain behind Myo Thit along with surrounding areas.

"As the  fighting turned fierce, many residents are now staying in bomb shelters in the town," stated the source

A local resident informed Narinjara News that the residents and government employees in Ann are not being allowed to leave the town. The fighter jets are carrying out airstrikes near the town regularly  causing panic among the women and minor children

The AA fighters recently captured several military bases under the western command prompting the junta to conduct airstrikes in the vicinity of the base more than 30 times per day.

It is difficult to authenticate the casualties among the  junta soldiers and the junta often hides information.   Narinjara News is still in touch with AA spokesperson U Khaing Thukha for further details.
