During the last six months of Arakan conflicts,
319 civilians were killed, and over 8,500 buildings, including private
houses, were destroyed, said U Khaing Thukha, spokesperson of the United League
of Arakan (ULA/AA).
He revealed all the information during the ninth press
conference and added that the figure covered the period from 13 November (when
the gun fighting resumed in Arakan) to 8 June.
At least 1,146 people sustained injuries from the
artillery shells fired by the junta forces and 452 individuals were arrested.
Among the damaged buildings there are 19 schools, 9
hospitals and 61 religious structures included. Even 13 bridges were also
destroyed, stated U Khaing Thukha.
Buthidaung township witnessed the largest number of
disruptive incidents.
The Arakha Army (AA) commander-in-chief general Twan
Mrat Naing disclosed in a recent media interview that 2,322 houses
belonging to Arakanese and other ethnic groups, 550 houses of Muslims, 12
monasteries, one mosque, two Hindu temples and two churches were destroyed due
to the arson attacks in Buthidaung locality.
In May alone, the junta soldiers killed 256
individuals across Myanmar, where Arakan recorded the highest number of
casualties, stated the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
