A woman in Thandwe township of Arakan State wascritically injured while searching for forest produce when she triggereda war remnant bomb. Both of her arms and legs were severed leading to herlife in danger.
The injured woman is identified as Daw Mi Htaw Htaw, a56-year-old from Daw Mya village under Thandwe township.
She accidentally triggered the bomb while foraging inthe forest near her village on 12 September morning.
“There are still unexploded war remnants in thoseforest areas. She found one of these bombs (from Thandwe fighting) andaccidentally triggered it, leading to the accident,” said a local resident.
Her legs were severed below the knee and arms belowthe elbow. Now she is struggling for life.
“She sustained serious injuries and now she isreceiving emergency medical treatment,” added the resident.
The Arakan Army (AA) advised the people to becautious, as landmines and remnants of war may still be present in the vicinityof military bases in the towns fully controlled by the AA in Arakan State,including the tactical operations command and military operations command, aswell as surrounding areas of the military bases, roads, schools, grazing landsand nearby forests and mountains.
