Junta Forces Kill 3 Villagers in Gwa Township

Min Shin Saw, 14 October 2024

On October 13, three peasants from three villages in Gwa Township, Arakan State, were slaughtered by the junta troops in the face of defeat; one of the victims was beheaded.

Locals identified the victims as Zeyar Lin, also known as Lauk Sa Lone, from Kan Pauk village, Shwe La Maung from Ku Toet Lay village, and Chin Lay from Tha Byu Chaung village.

Shwe La Maung was abducted by junta soldiers from his home and decapitated in Tha Yet Pin Su village, which is situated between Tha Byu Chaung and Del Pote villages, according to a local who saw the events and spoke with Narinjara News.

In Tha Byu Chaung village, Chin Lay was shot and killed by junta forces in a field hut.

A local source claims that Zeyar Lin, also known as Lauk Sa Lone, was blown to pieces by a grenade set by the junta troops as he was recovering a phone he had left behind at home. He was preparing to escape the fighting in a vehicle with his family and belongings.

After suffering losses in the ongoing fighting in Gwa Township, the junta has increased its targeted attacks against civilians.

"The junta is very cruel. Unable to fight against the AA, they have resorted to arresting and killing villagers daily. During airstrikes, it is only the villagers who suffer. The most painful part is that they killed three local civilians in a single day," a resident said.
