A total of 351 inmates, including politicians, who were
relocated from Sittwe Prison by navy vessels, have arrived at Pathein Prison in
the Ayeyarwady Region.
On October 12, the Political Prisoners Network - Myanmar
(PPNM) issued a statement revealing that the inmates reached Pathein Prison on
the evening of October 10.
PPNM reported that the inmates are facing significant
difficulties with food and living conditions and urged those who wish to help
to make donations through their organization.
"The public can assist through the Political
Prisoners Network - Myanmar (PPNM), ensuring that their donations are used
effectively and without any loss of funds," the statement said.
In response to a critical military and security
situation, the junta relocated more than 600 inmates from Sittwe Prison on
October 7 and 8 using navy vessels through the Sittwe BXT port.
Support for political prisoners, female
prisoners, LGBT+ people, and minors is desperately needed, according to the
Political Prisoners Network - Myanmar (PPNM).
The statement read, "People can help
politically imprisoned individuals who were wrongfully jailed, female
prisoners, LGBT+ people, and underage youth by putting the slogan 'We Are We'
into action."
Pathein Prison received some of the inmates
transferred from Sittwe Prison, while Insein Prison in Yangon received others.
