The junta forces on 29 May  entered Byine Phyu village, situated on the outskirts of Sittwe in  Arakan State and forced the villagers to kneel down before conducting interrogations.

The junta soldiers dragged villagers from their houses and made them kneel on the road alleging their association with the Arakha Army (AA), said local residents.

"The residents were indeed forced to kneel down and undergo interrogations. The roads were closed down. Till now the access to Kyay Taw village is restricted," confirmed a reliable source.

On the night of 22 May, the junta soldiers along with police personnel, immigration officers, and fire fighters conducted an overnight guest list inspection in Byine Phyu village.

The village  is situated near Kyay Taw and Shwe Pyi Thar  under Sittwe township and it comprises over 1000 families.

Currently, hundreds of villagers are fleeing to different locations to take refuge.

The  Sittwe residents are worried over the junta soldiers’ probable search looking for AA fighters in those villages and also Min Gan ward under the township and they may arrest the innocent civilians.
