Fighting near Ann town's western command compel residents to flee

Soon after the fall of Taw Hein Taung tactical operation command, the gun fighting approached the western command base in Ann township of Arakan (Rakhine) State which compelled  many residents to flee.

 

"The Arakan Army (AA) fighters clashed with the junta forces in nearby areas of Kyaung Phyu Kwin village on 26  June, the junta soldiers  conducted military operations in the locality. The western command base is hardly one and half miles away from Kyaung Phyu Kwin village," said a resident of Ann.

 

The sound of artillery shelling can be heard in the township and so many residents fled from their places. They no longer feel safe in the town.

 

The AA fighters  launched an offensive against the junta's guard outposts along the Mel Taung ridge near Mel Let Maung village and  gained an upper hand after the conflict.


"Some junta soldiers retreated from the outpost and the gun fighting continued. As the

fighting intensified around Ann township and approached the western command base, the junta forces expanded many guard outposts and also deployed a large number of soldiers.
