Another 1,544 Rohingyas from 507 families have left for Bhasan Charr in the 13th phase from different sheds of Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
Cox’s Bazar Armed Police Battalion-14 chief Naimul Haque confirmed the matter on Wednesday afternoon.
The Rohingyas are scheduled to arrive at Bhasan Char on a Navy ship on Thursday.
He said 1,544
Rohingyas–1,022 in the first phase and 522 in the second phase–were
taken to Bhasan Char island on the second day of the 13th phase. “A
total of 36 buses, including ambulances, were provided to move them.” Earlier
on Tuesday, 1,999 Rohingyas left Cox's Bazar for Bhasan Char on 39
buses from Ukhia Degree College ground, said Additional Refugee Relief
and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Shamsud Douza Nayan. He
added that about 26,000 Rohingyas had been taken to the island in
Noakhali till Tuesday, as per the government’s decision to relocate 1

currently hosts 1.1 million Rohingyas, who fled ethnic cleansing by the
Myanmar military in 2017, in camps at Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya and
Kutupalong. At Bhasan
Char, the government has set up an infrastructure of 120 cluster
villages sprawled on the 13,000-acre island at a cost of over Tk2,300
crore to accommodate the Rohingya population till their safe
repatriation back home.
