A woman was killed by the airstrikes in Minbya town of Arakan State on Sunday.
The junta soldiers conducted airstrikes with a jet
fighter at around 3 pm on 9 June targeting the vicinity of Kyein Taung pagoda
and residential wards in Minbya.
A bomb landed in Ah Lel Pine ward and hit the lady
with shrapnel and she died on the spot.
Another bomb struck Dhammi Kar Yone monastery near Kyein Taung in Ah Lel Pine
ward and it completely destroyed the monastery, said a local resident.
"The monasteries are being deliberately targeted.
In the past, many monks sustained injuries by the airstrikes. They must be evil
people," added the resident.
In the last 6 months, 8451 private houses, 19
schools, 9 hospitals, 61 religious buildings, and 13 bridges were destroyed,
said Arakha Army (AA) spokesperson U Khaing Thukha at a press conference held
on 8 June.
He also added that 319 civilians were killed and 1,146
were injured due to artillery shelling by the junta forces.
