The Arakan Army (AA) has successfully captured the 380th light infantry battalion based in Minbya
locality of Rakhine State, said a statement
issued by the Three Brotherhood Alliance on Sunday.
Despite the junta forces put up resistance with air support &
naval reinforcements, the entire
battalion fell to the relentless offensive
by the AA fighters leading to its complete capture.
"Today, the AA has successfully captured the junta's 380th light infantry battalion in Minbya township.
As the junta was abandoning one camp
after another, the battalion fiercely tried to resist the
offensive. However, the AA's relentless offensive resulted in the fall of yet another battalion," added
the statement.
In Minbya, junta's 380th, 379th, and 541st infantry battalions are located with close proximity to each
other.
Despite repeated airstrikes with warplanes, artillery fires from naval warships and deployment of a large
number of soldiers by the junta forces
to prevent the AA fighters, the 380th battalion ultimately went to AA’s control.
The two other battalions are currently surviving in the locality. The AA fighters continue attacking both the
battalions.
The junta forces are desperately defending Rakhine townships namely Mrauk-U, Kyauktaw, Ramree, Maungdaw,
Buthidaung, Minbya and Rathedaung amid
persisting conflicts.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance earlier mentioned that frequent clashes between AA fighters and junta forces
were going on those townships of Rakhine
State.
