The statement from the Three Brotherhood
Alliance on January 1 at 11:50 PM indicated that the Arakan Army (AA) persisted
in their efforts to fully capture the junta's Taung Shay mountain tactical
operation command base near Tinma Village in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State.
In the statement, it was stated that the AA
continued its efforts to fully capture the junta's Taung Shay mountain tactical
operation command base. On January 1, around 9:00 AM, junta fighter jets
dropped at least five bombs on the village and its vicinity. Furthermore, the
base, along with the Kyauktaw-based 9th Military Operations Command (MOC-9),
launched continuous artillery shell attacks. The base is also a site of war
crimes, involving the arrest, killing, and use of local residents as human
shields.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out that
ongoing attacks are targeting several of the junta's camps. These include the
Chin Let Wa camp and the Mee Wa tactical operation command base in Paletwa, as
well as the Point-313 hill-based camp, which is located approximately 1,700
meters northeast of Paletwa Township. It is also reported that the remaining
half of the junta's hill-based camp is also being targeted.
The statement also highlighted that the junta
forces are fiercely defending their positions by employing jet fighters for
airstrikes and indiscriminately firing artillery shells at all hours, while the
AA persisted in its efforts to capture all these camps within a short timeframe.
Amidst today's conflict, three female civilians
from Kan Htauk Wa were injured by shell shrapnel, as a result of junta forces
firing artillery shells.
In Tigyaing Township, located in the Sagaing
Region and known for AA members activity, the conflict has been persistent,
with skirmishes taking place daily or every other day.
