AA confirms capture of Maungdaw’s Kyein Chaung military camp



The Arakha Army (AA) has confirmed the complete capture of  Kyein Chaung military camp, where more than 500 military personnel were stationed, in northern Maungdaw township of  Rakhine State.

 

The  outpost, also known as the number 7 border guard outpost, housed over 100 junta soldiers, 400 border guard personnel along with 150 family members.




It also fiercely resisted the AA offensive, under the leadership of tactical operation commander Lt Col Min Soe and senior superintendent Lt Col Win Myint Aung.


During the battle, a number of military personnel were killed. Several prisoners of war along with their family members were also  captured. A large volume of weapons and ammunition were seized, said an AA statement.

 

The AA fighters besieged the outpost for months with the objective of capturing it. The offensive began on 23 March.

 

The AA military headquarters strongly acknowledged the outstanding performance, fighting spirit, courage, obedience to orders, good communication skills and dedication of the AA fighters. Those who have sacrificed their lives in the battle were  deeply mourned and honoured, added the statement.

 

The statement also warned all the remaining military bases to surrender as soon as possible.

 

The AA fighters will continue its offensive against the remaining military bases under the junta including western command in Ann township, 15th military operations command (MOC-15) in Buthidaung and 5th military operations command (MOC-5) in Taungup townships.
