A junta column faced numerous casualties as it was attacked by Arakan Army while coming down from Nga Sa Yine Chaung mountain in Minbya township of  Rakhine State, said local residents.

A resident informed Narinjara News that on Thursday at around 10:30 am, they heard two landmine explosions followed by continuous firing in  between Minn village and Phar Pyo village near Nga Sa Yine Chaung mountain.

"Two landmine explosions were heard as the soldiers were descending from the mountain. At least five soldiers were killed," added the resident.

The villagers informed that no less than 10 others were also injured in the incident

However, Narinjara News is yet to authenticate the number of casualties. They revealed that soon after the landmine explosion they heard the sound of small arm firing.

Nga Sa Yine Chaung mountain is located on the eastern side of Yar Maung bridge, which is around four miles north of Minbya township. The junta forces are usually stationed in the locality.

Furthermore, the residents also claimed that artillery shells were fired from the junta's point-114 hill-based camp near Yar Maung bridge.
