In a statement issued on 16 June, the AA claimed that the AA fighters have completely seized nearly all the SAC’s military camps in Maungdaw, located near the Bay of Bengal.

It also added that  Maungdaw had been used by the junta soldiers  as a military base and prepared extensively for urban warfare.

As the AA fighters continue their  offensives against  the remaining bases, the Maungdaw residents are advised to avoid staying in the areas like roads & houses, where junta soldiers had fortified positions.

It asserted that the AA fighters have already captured most of the military bases in Maungdaw locality adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. Moreover, they have surrounded the military camps in and around Maungdaw for many days now.

Due to concerns for the safety of the residents of Maungdaw, the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army urgently advised all residents to evacuate the downtown Maungdaw  area immediately, starting from 9 pm on 16 June.
