As China offered 6 patrol boats to the military junta it’s expected that it will enhance the waterways safety in Myanmar.
Moreover, it
will also increase the junta’s water search & rescue as well as water
resource protection, said a statement by the Chinese embassy in Yangon on
Tuesday.
The junta sent the proposal to Beijing in 2018 and Chinese
President Xi Jinping signed an agreement to supply patrol boats during his
visit to Myanmar in 2020.
The Chinese company-managed project may help Myanmar to overcome
various difficulties, including the epidemic, said the statement.
With
the initiative, both the countries expect a deeper cooperation in law
enforcement capacity building and also in combating transnational crimes like
gambling, fraud and illegal drugs trafficking. It will also promote the
implementation of global security measures in Myanmar to safeguard the shared
interests of both the countries, concluded the statement.
