China has affirmed its commitment to play aconstructive role in stabilizing the situation in Rakhine State, said a reportby CGTN, China's state-owned news outlet on Friday.
During the UN Security Council briefing regarding thesituation in Myanmar's Rakhine State, China's deputy permanent representativeto the UN, Geng Shuang elaborated about Beijing’s position on Rakhine conflicts.
"As a friendly neighbour of Myanmar, China hasbeen closely following the developments in the Rakhine region," said GengShuang adding that Beijing was initiating peace promotion through variouschannels.
Amidst international concerns over the recentescalation of violence in Rakhine State, Geng Shuang termed it asMyanmar's internal problem. He urged the international community to respectMyanmar’s sovereignty and help facilitate dialogues among various stakeholders.
He asserted that China's policy of friendship withMyanmar comprises all people of the country and they are committed to play aconstructive role in generating peaceful resolutions for the benefit of theRakhine people.
Finally he revealed that a Chinese delegationwas visiting Myanmar to mediate with various parties with the objective toresolve the ongoing conflict.
