The Arakha Army (AA) launched another offensive against the
remaining junta battalions at the entry point to Buthidaung in Rakhine
State and finally captured four battalions on Monday, said local residents.
Till now, the AA fighters have captured the 345th, 352nd,
353rd, and 535th light infantry battalions. They seized 345th and 352nd
light infantry battalions on 12 May and later captured the 353rd and 535th
light infantry battalions on 13 May.
"The AA fighters captured two battalions at the Buthidaung entry
point. Later they captured two more battalions and started launching attacks
against the remaining battalions,” said a resident.
Currently, the intense fighting is going on between the junta forces and AA
fighters and the junta soldiers conducted airstrikes using Y-12 aircraft and
jet fighters.
"The Y-12 aircraft dropped a number of bombs on various locations. The
bombing continued from dawn to dusk. The soldiers are currently dropping bombs
on Buthidaung and Maungdaw localities," said another resident.
The offensives against the Buthidaung based 233rd, 234th and 263rd light
infantry battalions along with the 378th artillery battalion continue.
The gun fighting in Maungdaw started by 5 pm following the junta’s bombing at
4:23 pm on 13 May.
A Y-12 aircraft conducted airstrikes on villages near
Buthidaung and Maungdaw towns and by 6:39 pm they dropped bombs along the
Mayu mountain range.
The 552nd light infantry battalion under Buthidaung’s
15th military operations command (MOC-15) was completely captured on 25
March. The headquarters of the 564th light infantry battalion was also captured
by the AA fighters on 5 April.
After the AA fighters captured many military bases in Buthidaung locality, they
targeted the junta's tactical operations command and battalions at the
Buthidaung’s entry point.
