The Arakan Army (AA) has reported daily clashes with junta forces in Rakhine State without any pause.
The AA fighters are
launching offensives against the headquarters of 564th light infantry battalion
in Buthidaung township, Taw Hein Taung tactical operation command in Ann
township and Kyein Chaung border guard post in Maungdaw township.
In a statement issued on 3 April, the AA asserted that
the conflict with the junta soldiers in the Rakhine region continues even
without a single day's interval.
The military bases including the headquarters of 564th
light infantry battalion under the 15th military operations command (MOC-15) in
Buthidaung township, Taw Hein Taung tactical operation command under the 5th
military operations command (MOC-5) in Ann township, etc are currently under
attacks by the AA fighters. Some nearby military camps and Kyein Chaung border
guard post in Maungdaw township are also facing the AA offensive.
“As we target these major military installations, we
are also working to complete the capture of smaller camps. On 1 April, our
fighters launched an offensive against the headquarters of 564th light infantry
battalion in Buthidaung locality,” said the statement.
The AA fighters launched an offensive against the
junta's point-257 camp, located about 1,500 meters east of Sa Nyin village
under Myebon township. The attack began at 6:20 am on 2 April and continued for
hours.
This camp is the number 3 tactical operation command
under the junta’s MOC-5. The soldier’s use of warplanes and the AA’s
intensified offensive strategy led to the intense fighting.
The AA also continued its attacks on Kyein Chaung
border guard post in Maungdaw without a pause.
During the subsequent clashes, the junta soldiers and
AA fighters had engaged in an hour-long battle on a ridge located 1.4
kilometres west of Lone village under Ann township on 31 March. At least
four soldiers were killed in the conflict.
The soldiers are targeting the civilians and also
committing war crimes by launching airstrikes and firing artillery shells daily
over schools, hospitals, markets, IDP camps, religious buildings and
residential areas.
On 31 March, the soldiers conducted airstrikes on the
basic education post primary school in Kan Htaung Gyi town of Myebon township.
It resulted in the destruction of a school building and four other houses.
Later on 2 April, the soldiers launched airstrikes on
Kan Htaung Gyi town of Myebon township. It resulted in the killing of three
civilians and injuries to several others. At least two houses were also
destroyed.
