The Arakan Army (AA) has joined the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) to attack the junta troops which were advancing near
Laiza town located at the
Myanmar-China border, said KIA spokesman colonel Norbu.
Since 3 July, the junta forces were attacking the village of Nan Sanyang near Laiza town with a large
number of soldiers. The military tension
continues till date in the area.
The KIA spokesman informed that the junta forces near Nan Sanyang village were increasing their military
strength with heavy weapons and battles
on the ground are continuing.
''The junta columns were arriving from Nan Sanyang side. We are intercepting and also defending the
area from the sides of Bamaw and Myitkyina. The
AA members also joined in the mission to defend the area. The war may continue for some more days,” he
added.
During the 14 days long battle, casualties were reported from both sides, but no detail is available
with the KIA, stated colonel Norbu.
It is also reported that thousands of local residents from the surrounding areas including Nan Sanyang
village fled to other places (including
Laiza town) looking for safety and security.
The AA has more than 30,000 combat troops deployed in Kachin State, northern Shan State besides Rakhine
State.
There are reports that the junta
has increased its military strength
on the side of Rakhine State, where military preparations are going on, but Narinjara News can
not confirm the development.
Military council chairman senior general Min Aung Hlaing, who arrived in Rakhine State on 10 July, met with
the families of military troops here
and stated that the soldiers should be ready to fight in need.
