The junta forces have threatened to kill anyone leaving their houses after 9 pm starting from 31 May in Maungdaw, situated on the western border of Arakan State, said local residents, adding that  death threats were conveyed through the local administrators.

"On 31 May, local administrators conveyed to us that the junta soldiers will kill anyone leaving their houses after 9 pm," stated a Maungdaw  resident.

The junta forces are currently stationed at Wi Ma La post primary school in Myo Ma (north) ward  and the post primary school in Myo Ma (west) ward. Various religious buildings in Maungdaw town are also used by the junta soldiers to monitor the residents.

"They are  stationed in several locations across Maungdaw town, including Dat village school, Myo Ma markets, etc. They are monitoring the pedestrians and individuals at tea shops, " added the resident.

In Maungdaw, the border guard personnel were removed from the locations, where the fleeing personnel were stationed. Instead, the reinforced soldiers belonging to 22nd and 33rd divisions are now stationed there.
