Cargo boat sinks in Arakan causing loss of Kyats 370 million

On 20 September, a cargo boat sank in Let Ma Yar river in Pauktaw township of Rakhine State, while navigating in night hours to escape the junta’s airstrikes.

 

A source close to the affected traders informed Narinjara News that at around 2 am on Friday, the boat collided with the concrete pillar of Let Ma Yar bridge.

 

"The boat collided with the pillar and sank. Many goods were lost, but the passengers were safe,” added the source.

 

The boat carried 850 bags of rice grains along with potatoes, onions, dried chilies and snacks. The total estimated loss will be around Kyats 370 million.

 

The goods belonged to seven traders, including five females from Kyauktaw and Goke Pi Htaunt village. Two traders hail from Ah Pauk Wa village.


The  goods were carried from Taungup to resale in Kyauk Taw locality.
