A workshop highlighting on the role of education in preventing gender-based violence in Arakan State of Burma (Myanmar) was recently organized at Sittwe. Myanmar Anti Narcotic Association (MANA) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in association with the Myanmar authority organized the day long workshop on 19 March 2016 at 19th police battalion hall.
Participants included the high ranking Arakan police officers, important officials from the townships & police stations of Sittwe districts, various department heads with few others.
The keynote address was delivered by Arakan police chief colonel Sein Lwin, where representatives from MANA and UNFPA, an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health & equal opportunity discussed about the aim and objects of the workshop to the participants.
They all emphasized on educating the people to prevent gender-based violence in the State of Arakan
