Six more Arakan Army rebels convicted

The  Kyauk Taw township court in Arakan State of western Burma on 6 April convicted six more Arakan Army rebels to five years of imprisonment to each. With them, altogether  37 members of Arakan Army have been convicted by the court till date.

The convicted individuals have been identified as Ko U Ba Maung [son of U Maung Khin Thein from Yathe Taung township], Ko Maung Kyaw Thein [son of U Maung Tun Sein from Min Bya township], Ko Maung Than Wae [son of U Thar Tun Oo from Kyouk Phru township], Ko Tun Tun Win [son of U Tun Khaing from Min Bya township], Ko Tun Soe Naing [son of U Tun Oo Phyu from Sittwe township in Arakan State] and Ko Soe Naing [son of U Thar Sein from Plat Wa township in  Chin State].

U Tun Hla, the lawyer for the convicted individuals informed that they all confessed their involvement with the insurgent outfit [Arakan Army] and the judge accordingly pronounced the verdict.

Earlier the Kyauk Taw township court sentenced two Arakan Army members on 16 March followed by 12 members on 30 March, 11 members on 31 March and six  members on 4 April besides the last six members sentenced on Wednesday.
