Kyauk Taw: The National League for Democracy (NLD) has donated another kyat 100 lakhs to the refugees of the recent violence in Arakan State.
“We have received this money (kyat 10 millions) from our central office on December 13 when we arrived in Kyaukphyu, as a part of our travel to form township-level commissions to hold our party’s conference in Arakan State. We will donate the money to the refugees in six townships on our travel”,said U Soe Lay, a member of the commission for holding NLD’s conference in Arakan State.
He said the donation money will be distributed to the refugees in Kyaukphyu, Mraybon, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Pauktaw and Rathedaung Townships.
“We donated the money to the refugees in Than Phyu Kyaung Monastery in Kyaukphyu on December 13. But we were unable to enter to Mraybon and handed over the donation to our party members in the township after dividing specific donations for the killed, injured and homeless according to the statistics issued by the township administration office”, he said.
He said the NLD has been helping all people suffering according to its policies that disregard race and creed.
It is also learnt that the party had already donated kyat 20 millions to the refugees in Arakan State for the first time.
The party’s commission is said to be travelling to the northern townships in Arakan State to form township-level commissions for holding its conference in Arakan State.
The commission is said to include U Nyi Pu as chairman, U Maung Kraun Aung as general secretary and U Soe Lay as a member.
