Three cargo vessels were destroyed in an incident of fire this afternoon at  Kyauktaw jetty of  Arakan State, where the area is currently under the control of Arakan Army.

A local eyewitness said that the fire erupted at 2  pm when the cargo vessel, loaded with fuel, caught fire. It was finally doused by 5 pm.

The fire spread from one vessel to another and finally destroyed three vessels. The estimated loss may be of billion kyats.

"The fire was very intense. Since the vessels were carrying fuel, they caught fire instantly. There were cargo vessels from other areas like Paletwa and Rathedaung townships. The fire started on the vessel coming from Rathedaung," added the eyewitness.

Fortunately, there was no casualty even though a mechanic sustained some injuries.

With the summer season approaching, the  residents apprehended more incidents of fire hazards and insisted on remaining vigilant by everyone.
