The Arakanese students, who were involved with 1988 Burma Uprising for Democracy, have planned to reunite for the cause of the State. They are now preparing for a meeting in Mrouk Oo, an old city of Arakan, to get reunited under a banner.
U Than Naing, a member of 88 Reunion Committee (temporary) informed that the proposed meeting will be held in Dhama Hall of Nyaung Bin Zay Quarter in Mrouk Oo.
Besides U Than Naing, the reunion committee has 12 other members including Ko Kyaw Zaw Oo, Ko Saw Naing, Ko U Kyaw Than, Ko U Than Naing, Ko Pyi Thein, Ko San Myint etc.
“Our aim is to carry out activities for the national interest. We are trying to reunite all ex-students who were involved in 8-8-88 uprising such that we can contribute for the benefits of Arakan and its people” he added.
The participants from three districts namely Mrouk Oo, Sittwe and Maungdaw are expected in large numbers in the meeting, claimed Ko Pyi Thein (aka) KoTunTun, another committee member.
There will be another meeting in Kyouk Phyu for the participants from the districts of Kyouk Phyu and Thandway in the next month.
“The ex-88 Students Association will be formed after the meetings in Mrouk Oo and Kyouk Phyu are over. We will also apply for the registration as a social organization under the government such that we can implement various welfare policies across the State,” stated U Than Naing.
