4th anniversary of Arakan Army observed
Maungdaw: The 4th anniversary of the Arakanese army was observed in the Kachin liberated area near the Chinese border on the 10th of April 2013 amid enthusiasm to modernise and strengthen the army.
The anniversary was observed with two sections at the provisional headquarters of the Arakan army located in the area of the Kachin Independence Organization.
In the first section, there was a parade procession in which the chief commander of the Arakan army, deputy chief , commanders from the front lines columns, soldiers, high ranking officials from allied organizations and guests attended.
The parade procession started at 6 am on the day and many columns of the Arakan army marched to salute their army chiefs.
In the ceremony, the Arakan Army chief delivered a speech to the parade columns that is below.
“ The Arakan army is built by the souls, blood and iron spirit of heroes, martyrs and brave comrades of the Arakan army The army will never surrender. The people of Arakan are now hoping and relying on the army to protect national interests. We all are trying enthusiastically to build the army with a national spirit and using political tactics cleverly. The Arakan army is ready to cooperate with the organizations which are struggling and carrying out for Arakan people interests to carry for Arakanse people.”
The morning first section concluded at 7 AM.
The second section started at 7:30 where the Deputy Army Chief Dr Nyo Tun Aung welcomed and received many guests who attended the ceremony. During the ceremony deputy Arakan army chief offered gifts of honor to those who are working and to cooperate effectively with the Arakan army. Colonel Zaw Aung from the policy and strategy department of KIA delivered a speech to attendees.
Over 500 people including members from KIO and Arakan army were estimated to attend the ceremony. The ceremony concluded at 8 am by singing the Arakan national anthem.
