3 Arakanese youths imprisoned for plotting explosions

(By  Man Yu Kyaw Narinjara News, 23 Oct 2014) :

courtThree Arakanese youths were sentenced to four years of imprisonment by the northern district court of Rangoon (Yangon) on Wednesday against a scheming explosion case, said family sources.

The three accused young people,  identified as Khaing Nay Min, Bo Bo Tun and Thein Nyunt, were arrested by the police from a hotel in Hlaing Thaya of Rangoon in November last year.

The police officers on duty, who claimed to found some explosive materials with the Arakanese youths, lodged a case against them under Burmese laws’ section no 5/6. The investigative agency disclosed that the youths were planning to explode the bombs in some religious buildings inside Burma (Myanmar).

The lawyer of the convicted youths said that they would appeal in the higher court as their families believe that there were no solid evidences against them.

The police produced some materials, used for making of bombs, to the court as evidences. But those materials include some pieces of cartridges, one lighter, one telephone set, few cables, a PBC pipe with some charcoals, which cannot be identified as dangerous and explosive items, the lawyer asserted.
