The junta’s navy personnel arrested 11 people, including a child,
who fled the conflicts in Ah Myint Kyun, Par Da Leik and Aung Taing villages
under Sittwe township of Arakan State. Later, two males were shot
dead and two females detained in their custody. The women, who were
released, had their heads shaved by the personnel.
The victims namely U Than Tun Maung (53) and U Aung Thein Ttun
(39) hailed from Ah Myint Kyun village. The arrested women namely
Ma Moe Thuzar (24) and Daw Soe Soe Aye (49) also hail from the same
village.
A resident from Aung Taing village informed Narinjara News that
they were arrested from Ah Myint Kyun bridge on 11 June, while they tried to
escape by boat.
The junta forces even asked the arrested individuals to jump
into the river and then shoot at them. Thus both the males died in the river.
Four others managed to escape.
Three out of the five women, including a 7-year-old girl, were
later released but shaved their heads.
Between 29 and 31 May, the junta forces killed 76 individuals in
Byine Phyu village and captured nearly 100 men, who were later taken to the
20th infantry battalion. With more it, three women were raped and killed,
stated the villagers.
