It has been stated that certain units of the Junta forces have interacted with the Arakan Army (AA) while conducting a large search for a missing major and his armed military unit in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State.
According to a military source cited by Narinjara, two military columns have been engaged in a large-scale search since April 27 in Pyin Shay village and Malakyunt village, close to the 32nd Police Battalion in Kyaukphyu Township, where fierce clashes erupted.
"On Sunday, that column was dispatched to look for the missing major. They moved into the AA-controlled areas and conducted searches, and then the AA launched an assault. The battle was extremely intense,” he stated.
Certain soldiers, among them a major from the infantry division headquarters (99) located in Mithilar, who were dispatched to the fight in Kyaukpyu Township, deserted with their arms while traveling from Kyaukpyu Airport to the No. (32) Battalion of Police on April 27.
A different local resident of Kyaukpyu informed Narinjara News that the junta troops are urgently looking for the missing majors in several locations, including villages near the military bases situated on the outskirts of Kyaukphyu.
"The primary cause of the conflict is their progress in locating the absent column from the opposite side of the nation, and the clash was continuing with the AA," he stated.
The infantry battalions and navy are bombarding AA-controlled regions on a daily basis. They (Junta) are employing not just drones but also paratroopers in their current assault on AA.
In Kyaukphyu, fighting between the AA and the military council began on February 20, near the Danyawaddy naval headquarters in Kyaukphyu Township.
