The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), a terrorist organization that is based in Bangladesh, has stealthily infiltrated Maungdaw town and engaged in conflict with the Arakan Army (AA) on April 27.
A resident of the village informed Narinjara that he heard gunfire close to the village on the evening of April 27. "It is known that ARSA approached close to Pyar Thar village, triggering the gunfire. It is recognized that they are removing obstacles from the site," he stated.
Following the shooting, the AA instructed shops in Maungdaw town to shut down, causing worries, a local resident informed Narinjara.
"Yesterday at 4 pm, the AA instructed the stores in Maungdaw to shut down. We experienced worry as well. When I inquired about the reason, they replied it was due to the circumstances. Then I learned that we heard gunfire coming from Pyar Thar village," he stated.
Information regarding the shooting incident is not available at this time.
The AA has maintained full control over the entire Maungdaw township since December 8, 2024.
Nonetheless, the ARSA group, based in hiding in Bangladesh, has been encroaching into Maungdaw township periodically and has been attacking and murdering innocent civilians.
AA is pursuing the ARSA group.
According to the source, in the northern area of Maungdaw township, from April 1 to April 8, the AA successfully killed over 40 ARSA terrorists and captured more than 10 armed individuals within eight days.
