A man sustained injuries after stepping on a landmine in Ann Township, Rakhine State.
The hurt individual is 56-year-old U Maung San from Sin Khon Taing Village in Ann Township.
On April 25, at approximately 10 AM, U Maung San was headed to his farm when he triggered a landmine that detonated.
Due to the mine explosion, U Maung San sustained injuries throughout his body and is presently undergoing medical care.
Concerning the frequent landmine blasts in Rakhine, a local said, "We should increase efforts in mine awareness activities. In terms of awareness, it is essential for both the government and social organizations, including HDCO, to collaborate. We must also put in significant effort to remove unexploded mines in Rakhine."
Although the Arakan Army (AA) is still working to remove mines following the conflict in Rakhine, the effects of mines and other unexploded ordnance are still present, posing a threat to local individuals who depend on forests and mountains for their livelihoods.
Narinjara's reports indicate that in March, one civilian lost their life and 20 more were wounded in Rakhine as a result of landmines and other leftover explosive materials.
