The spokesperson for the AA, U Khaing Thu Kha, stated that severe measures will be enacted against two AA soldiers who assaulted a woman in Paletwa Township of Chin State, an area controlled by the AA.
On April 5, at approximately 5:50 pm, two AA troops assaulted a Khumi woman from Sein San Wa Village in Paletwa Township.
The two soldiers have been held in custody and are undergoing questioning since the event, stated U Khaing Thu kha.
"The alleged rape incident is real. The event occurred in Sein San Wa village, located in Paletwa township. We have arrested the two individuals who perpetrated the offense since the day the assault occurred. We are currently looking into them. We will enforce strict measures to guarantee justice in this matter," stated U Khine Thu Kha.
The Khumi woman who was assaulted is a married mother with a child. According to Chin World, a news agency for the Chin community, two AA soldiers attempted to murder her after assaulting her, but she barely avoided death thanks to her mother-in-law's intervention.
On January 14, 2024, the Arakan Army (AA) seized and took control of the entire Paletwa township in Chin State, with the administrative and judicial sectors overseen by the Arakan People's Government of the ULA/AA.
