Teenage boy killed, another hurt in remnant bomb explosion in Taungup

A teenage boy was fatally injured and another hurt when an unexploded bomb detonated in Taungup Township, located in the southern region of Rakhine State.

The victim has been named as Maung Min Khant Soe (13) from Yankhor Village, while the injured individual is Maung Shain Htet Aung (11) from Ma Kyi Kone Keut Thit within the Yankhor Village area.

On the afternoon of April 4, it was reported that Maung Min Khant Soe and Maung Shain Htet Aung found an unexploded ordnance near the old 544th Infantry Battalion, which was previously occupied by Military Council troops before the AA took control of the battalion.

After they picked up the bomb and handled it, it exploded, resulting in this damage.

As a result of this explosion, Maung Min Khant Soe passed away instantly.

Maung Shain Htet Aung sustained significant injuries to his hands and is undergoing medical care.

Narinjara's reports indicate that in March, a civilian lost their life and 20 others sustained injuries in Rakhine due to the detonation of unexploded ordnance and a landmine.
