Narinjara News, 3rd April 2025
Following the Military Council's declaration of a nationwide ceasefire on April 2 lasting until the 22nd, the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) similarly declared a 20-day halt to offensive operations.
The ceasefire will last from April 2, 2025, to April 22, 2025, spanning 20 days.
The KIO statement emphasizes that the provisions of Article 4 in the Military Council's ceasefire declaration must be adhered to by both ethnic resistance groups and revolutionary forces, as well as the Myanmar military.
Article (4) of the temporary ceasefire statement from the Military Council, released on April 2, 2025, states: "Throughout the temporary ceasefire, ethnic armed groups and other armed factions are forbidden from obstructing or damaging public communication routes, endangering the lives and properties of civilians, assaulting the bases of security forces conducting law enforcement and security operations, interfering with or attacking military installations, as well as assembling, organizing, and expanding territories that could threaten peace. If such measures are implemented, the Tatmadaw will enact necessary responses to safeguard the public."
The KIO additionally mentioned that the military council is required to adhere to the directives outlined in Article 4 of the Military Council's ceasefire declaration.
