In Sittwe, Arakan State, troops from the junta-affiliated Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) detained three individuals from the Maramagyi ethnic minority, which belongs to the Arakan ethnic group. The men were charged with supplying information to the Arakan Army (AA).
The detained persons are U Yee Maung (62), Ko Zunia (38), and Ko Karlar Vi (26), who all live in Kal Sal Yay Block-2 within Sittwe Township.
A nearby inhabitant connected to the ALP informed Narinjara News that on the night of March 25, a team of 12 ALP members and an ALP aide, directed by Daw Saw Mra Raza Lin, entered Kal Sal Yay Block-2 and conducted the arrests.
"The ALP troops initially entered the ward, led by someone else. They requested the names of the three persons and led them out. After going outside, they assaulted and tortured them before bringing them to the ALP office," the resident stated.
As per the same resident, the people were detained and assaulted on charges of sharing details with the Arakan Army (AA). The entire Kal Sal Yay Block-2 was under threat from ALP forces.
"They warned they would kill anyone who gives information to the AA," the resident noted.
The detained men have been prohibited from seeing their relatives.
The Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), under the leadership of Daw Saw Mra Raza Lin, commemorated its third anniversary in Sittwe during the period of March 20 to 22.
Local inhabitants have voiced worries, asserting that the ALP is blatantly collaborating with the junta, detaining and torturing locals in partnership with them.
