A woman from Arakan, who owns a gold shop in Thaketa Township, Yangon, was kidnapped by four middle-aged men in a vehicle.
The individual, Daw Sandar Lin, 40, hails from Manaung Township in Arakan State. She operates a gold shop named Linn Lat Shwe Sin located at No. 1 Market in Thaketa Township.
Witnesses reported that at approximately 7 am on March 18, four men kidnapped Daw Sandar Lin while she was heading to her shop. She was forcefully pulled into a vehicle close to her home on Htu Par Yon Street 22, 2-North Ward, Thaketa Township.
A resident close to Htu Par Yon Street 22 informed Narinjara News, "It occurred this morning. The individual who was taken is a woman from Arakan. She has resided in Ward 2 for a considerable period. The location of the incident was relatively calm. Witnesses reported seeing her being pulled into a vehicle from afar.
The woman who was abducted has not been reached yet, and the inquiry is still in progress.
"We have not managed to reach her so far. They claim they are looking into it. Since she owns a gold shop, she probably had gold jewelry with her,” the man added.
Individuals near her disclosed that she would take the gold items home each night after closing her store and return them the following day to sell.
When Narinjara News tried to reach out to the Thaketa Township Police Station about the incident, there was no response from the station.
