The Mon Liberation Army (MLA) executed an assault during the inauguration of the Gyaing River Bridge in Kyondoe Town, Karen State, attended by junta ministers. The assault resulted in the deaths of three junta soldiers and wounded at least five more.
As stated by the MLA on March 10, the organization conducted the assault on March 9 employing two drones. The drones released bombs at 5:38 am, 5:43 am, and 8:30 am, resulting in three blasts.
The inauguration was attended by numerous senior junta officials, such as U Myo Thant, Union Minister of Construction; U Saw Myint Oo, Chief Minister of Karen State; Colonel Banyar Win, Deputy Commander of the Southeastern Command; U Nyunt Lin, Chief Justice of the Karen State High Court; and U Nyi Nyi Zaw, Minister of Transport for Karen State.
The MLA statement mentioned that the ministers escaped the area after the ribbon was cut because of the explosions.
The assault led to the fatalities of three junta soldiers and harmed at least five more. A civilian close to the market beneath the old bridge was also hurt. The MLA conveyed profound sorrow for the harm done to an innocent civilian and advised individuals to steer clear of gatherings, ceremonies, and military camps arranged by the junta.
