On the afternoon of December 31, the military carried out airstrikes on Yoe Ta Yote village in Ponnagyun Township, Arakan State, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including two womenaand a boy, injuring 8 others, including a monk.
Around 1:00 pm, the junta deployed two bombs from a fighter jet targeting a monastery in a residential area and a school housing displaced individuals.
The individuals who passed away were recognized as Daw Ma Thar Hla, 76 and U Hla Pru,48, hailing from Yoe Ta Yote village in Ponnagyun Township; Ma Oo San Nwe, 25, from Tan Khoe village; and Ko Myo Zaw Tun, 18, from Kun Taung village and Maung Myo Hein Aung, 9, from San phya ward of Ponna Kyunt who had sought refuge in Yoe Ta Yote village.
"Two bombs were released on a residential area, aimed at a monastery and a school. Innocent individuals lost their lives," a local source stated.
In this assault, a school, a monastery, and a residence in Yoe Ta Yote village were demolished.
Witnesses claimed to have heard the loud noises of airstrikes in nearby villages in Kyauktaw Township amid the assault on Yoe Ta Yote village.
The peaceful Yoe Ta Yote village is located in Ponnagyun Township. On March 4, the Arakan Army (AA) fully took control of Ponnagyun Township.
