The Institute for Strategy and Policy – ​​Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar) announced on December 28 that the Arakan Army (AA) has gained control of 10 Chinese projects in Arakan State.

As per a statement from ISP-Myanmar, by December 24, 2024, the AA manages 10 of the 11 Chinese projects in Arakan State.

The statement highlights that the AA has acquired complete control over the wind energy projects in Thandwe and Ann.

Moreover, ISP-Myanmar mentioned that projects under partial control consist of the Kyaukphyu deep sea port and special economic zone, the Mandalay-Kyaukphyu railway project, the Kyaukphyu-Naypyidaw road project, the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline, along with trade routes. .

Clashes between the AA and junta forces reemerged on November 13, 2023. Since that time, the AA has seized and gained control of 13 of the 17 townships within Arakan State, which include Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Pauktaw, Minbya, Myebon, Ponnagyun. , Rathedaung, Ramree, Buthidaung, Thandwe, Maungdaw, Taungup, and Ann, along with Paletwa Township located in Chin State.

The AA, having seized 14 towns in Arakan State, began combat in Sittwe on December 27, one of the final three towns remaining under junta authority.
