The Chin Brotherhood Alliance, working alongside the Arakan Army (AA), has effectively outflanked junta forces during its current operation in Chin State, swiftly capturing two townships in the southern region of Chin State.
The captured townships are Kanpetlet and Mindat.
On December 22, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance declared the successful seizure of Mindat Town. The next day, December 23, the coalition confirmed the seizure of Kanpetlet Town.
In a statement about the capture of Kanpetlet Town, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance announced, “The entire Kanpetlet Township in Chin State is now completely under the control of the Chin Brotherhood Alliance.”
On December 22, 2024, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance commenced the campaign to seize Kanpetlet Town known as Operation Chin Brotherhood (Operation CB). On the day the operation commenced, junta troops abandoned their posts, enabling the Chin Brotherhood Alliance to seize control of the whole Kanpetlet Township.
Furthermore, on December 21, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance and its allied forces successfully seized the 274th Infantry Battalion, stationed in Mindat Town, Chin State, and assumed control over the entire township.
The conflict in Mindat Town included the Chin Brotherhood Alliance alongside allied groups such as the Yaw Defense Force (YDF), Yaw Army (YA), and Monywa District People’s Defence Force (PDF) Battalion 3, which took part in the offensive.
The Chin Brotherhood Alliance also mentioned that its partner, the Arakan Army (AA), offered military guidance and crucial assistance during the effort to seize Mindat Town, which involved weapons, ammunition, and additional troops.
In a comparable mission, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance and its allied forces seized the whole Matupi Township in southern Chin State on June 29.
