Following the recent capture of Maungdaw Town and Taungup Town in Arakan State, the Arakan Army (AA) has initiated ongoing assaults on military installations in Ann Town and Gwa Town, as stated in a declaration released on December 18.

The AA statement mentioned that among all the military camps in the Ann region, which houses the Western Command, only a small number are still under its control. It stated that the junta troops within the Military Regional Office, numbering about a hundred, are vigorously resisting the AA assault.

The statement also noted, "The junta troops have been persistently launching artillery shells from the Arakan mountains at the battle areas, striking the fascist terrorist junta members within the Military Regional Office, resulting in casualties."

The combat has escalated as the junta troops persist in executing a sequence of airstrikes and artillery bombardments from the ground forces of the Western Command.

The announcement also mentioned that junta troops continue to surrender in regions near the Western Command in Ann.

"The quicker you surrender, the sooner you will endure and be brought back together with your family and loved ones. The Arakan Army (AA) assures the security of all individuals who surrender and display the white flag,” the statement mentioned.

Likewise, the conflict in Gwa Town, situated in the southernmost region of Arakan State, continues to be just as fierce as in prior days.

The statement noted that during the clash in Gwa Town on December 18, the bodies of junta troops were discovered, along with a considerable quantity of arms and munitions confiscated.
