Junta airstrikes on Kin Taung San Pya village kill 4, injure 5

The junta forces conducted airstrikes on Kin Taung San Pya village under Taungup township of Arakan State after the midnight hours on Thursday. The attacks resulted in the death of four civilians including a 10-year-old boy, and injury to five others.

 

The deceased include U Maung Hla Tin (65), Daw Mya Yee (56) and Daw Mya Kyi (74), said villagers.

 

The injured individuals are Maung Zin Lin Htet (11), teacher U Soe Hitke (48),  Daw Ma Tin Shwe (89), Daw Myint Myint Kyu (52) and Ko Pyi Thein San (23).


At 2 am today, while the villagers were in deep sleep, the junta soders dropped two bombs on the village using Y-12 aircraft, said a local villager.


Several houses near the fire station and high school were hit and nine houses were damaged. Three individuals were killed when a bomb hit those houses and another died when a bomb fell near the school.

 

Situated beside the Taungup-Maei highway, Kin Taung San Pya village has around 1,000 houses and it’s approximately 11 miles and 5 furlongs away from Taungup town.


The village is currently controlled by the Arakan Army (AA). Since early August, the junta soldiers conducted a series of airstrikes in the township targeting areas believed to have AA fighters.

 

On 2 October also, a teenager sustained head injuries from the airstrikes conducted near Khaung Laung Du village, located seven miles away from Taungup town.


On the night of 24 September, two civilians including a university student were killed, three others were injured. Several residential buildings were destroyed due to the airstrikes on Tan Lwe Ywar Ma police station and other urban areas in Taungup locality.
