Three male family members were murdered whiledelivering goods in Paletwa township of Chin State recently.
The victims include U San Aung (61), his son KoAik Myint (26) and his grandson Maung Pi Si Tun (13), all hailed from Maung HnaMa village under Paletwa township.
They were killed while transporting goods by a boatalong Kaladan river from Mizoram in India to Kyauktaw town of Arakan State.
"On 8 September, they started transporting foodand fuel from Mizoram in a boat to deliver in Kyauktaw. They were killed alongthe way. Their bodies were recovered with severe injuries near Paletwa on 17and 18 September,” said a resident of Paletwa.
The bodies were found scattered on Nga Ta Lel island,located between Laung Ka Du and Tan Seik villages in Paletwa locality andalso on the riverbank near Mun Daunt village under Kyauktaw township.
A family member revealed that one body had its necksevered with the head found in one location and the body elsewhere.
"They had no enemies. I believe they were killedafter their goods were looted. We filed a complaint with the Arakan Army (AA)in Paletwa and they are supposed to investigate the matter to find out theculprits," added the family member.
The local residents suspect that they were robbed andkilled in between Laung Ka Du and Tan Seik villages.
The empty boat belonging to the murdered familyfloated down Kaladan river and was retrieved by the residents of Hnamadarvillage in Paletwa locality.

Since 13 November, when the fighting resumed in theArakan region, import of goods from the mainland was prohibited. As a result,most residents of Arakan and Chin States were relying on goods from Mizoramdespite various difficulties.
Such incidents of looting and murder did not happenearlier and hence the traders in the region are now alarmed after this fatefulincident.
