The meteorologists forecast heavy rainfall in Arakan mountains and also Arakan State in the next few hours and it may lead to flash floods.

"On 12 and 13 September, the Arakan mountain areas bordering Magway may receive rainfall  between 300 and 480 mm," said meteorologist Su Su San on her social media space.

She also noted that Yaw, Salin, Nwetamei, Mone, Mann, Sapoot and Min Don creeks on the eastern side of Arakan mountains may experience rapid flows. The creeks flow into Irrawaddy river. The residents in low-lying areas near these creeks are advised to move to safer places.

Heavy rains affected several regions, including the Arakan one, causing floods and some casualties as well.

The meteorology and hydrology department reported that low pressure is created in central and northwestern Myanmar and may impact  lower Sagaing region, northern Magway region, Chin and Arakan States.

The low pressure cell is expected to move towards the west and finally reach the Bangladesh coast.

Natural disasters like flash floods and landslides may take place  in the affected areas.

The fishermen in creeks and small rivers and also those involved in domestic navigation and aviation are advised to take necessary precautions.

The department also added that both Chin and Arakan States will receive more rains over the next few days.
