The military junta used a jet fighter to launch airstrikes against the previous general administration office located in the Lay Myo Sar ward of Mrauk-U town, which is under the authority of the Arakan Army.

The military junta carried out airstrikes with a jet fighter on the former general administration office at Lay Myo Sar ward of  Mrauk-U town in Arakan State.

“Airstrikes were carried out by 11:40 pm on 2 September. Missiles were reportedly used, but there was no casualty,” said local residents.

Facing a loss of ground troops in the ongoing fighting across Arakan State, the junta is now increasingly relying on airstrikes. These airstrikes often hit civilian areas reporting casualties.

On 10 August, the airstrikes on a crowded area in downtown Mrauk-U resulted in the death  of six civilians and injuries to 7 others.

Currently, the junta soldiers are desperately defending their military bases at Maung Shwe Lay naval base and other areas under Maungdaw, Thandwe and Gwa townships with the help of airstrikes.

As the airstrikes continue targeting residential villages, the civilian casualties are only increasing.

On 15 August, the junta's airstrikes on a church in Kyeintali town under Gwa township resulted in the death of 11 civilians including two minors and  injuries to 11 others.
