The military junta sentenced 144 residents ofByine Phyu village under Sittwe township to three years of imprisonment.
On 30 August, the Sittwe prison special courtsentenced them under section 17(1) of the Unlawful Association Act.
"They were sentenced to three years in prisoneach. Most of them are elderly," said a resident.
The junta accused over 200 people from Byine Phyuvillage under various sections. Amongthem, 144 individuals were sentenced for three years of imprisonment, and 4 of themwere released today, according to people close to them.

On 29 May, the junta forces raided Byine Phyu village,killing 76 people and arresting over 300 others, who were later taken to aninterrogation center.
