An
artillery shell exploded on the campus of Taungup University in Taungup
township of Arakan State and damaged some properties belonging to the
head of the academic affairs department of the prestigious university.
A resident
of Taungup informed that the battalions under 5th military operations command
(MOC-5) fired many artillery shells toward Tein Chaung areas behind the
university campus. One artillery shell exploded inside the campus and damaged a
house and a car.
"The house belonging to U Aung Soe, head of the academic affairs department, along with his car were damaged. But fortunately no one was hurt in the incident," added the resident.
On the
night of 15 June, the Arakan
Army (AA) launched an offensive against the military junta's artillery
battalion stationed at Tein Chaung behind the university, which prompted the
junta soldiers to resist the offensive with airstrikes and artillery shelling.
Meanwhile,
Maung Aung Hlaing Win (17) from Ywar Thit Kay village under Taungup township
was killed by shrapnel. The junta forces continue firing artillery shells,
conducting airstrikes and launching drone bomb attacks on populated areas.
