As China offered 6 patrol boats to the military junta it’sexpected that it will enhance the waterways safety in Myanmar.
Moreover, itwill also increase the junta’s water search & rescue as well as waterresource protection, said a statement by the Chinese embassy in Yangon onTuesday.
The junta sent the proposal to Beijing in 2018 and ChinesePresident Xi Jinping signed an agreement to supply patrol boats during hisvisit to Myanmar in 2020.
The Chinese company-managed project may help Myanmar to overcomevarious difficulties, including the epidemic, said the statement.
Withthe initiative, both the countries expect a deeper cooperation in lawenforcement capacity building and also in combating transnational crimes likegambling, fraud and illegal drugs trafficking. It will also promote theimplementation of global security measures in Myanmar to safeguard the sharedinterests of both the countries, concluded the statement.
