Maungdaw explosion: 2 Muslim children die on the spot

Two Muslim children died on the spot in Maungdawtownship on the western border of Rakhine State while they were playing with aremnant bomb. The incident took place in the afternoon of 21 April as the bombexploded suddenly.

 

The victims have been identified as  Maung AbduRohaim (aged 6) and Ma Doh Labi (7). Both hailed from Abu Jar village under Tha Yet Taung village-tract.

 

"They played in the field and were unaware of aremnant bomb. The boy lost his right leg and died. The girl died from herinjuries in both the legs and her head," said a villager, adding that theywere already buried.



 

"These kinds of  tragic incidents occurfrequently in the war zones. In recent days, more children are facing bombexplosions as they go to play outside," he added.

 

On 13 April too, a remnant bomb exploded while thechildren were playing with it at Taman Thar village under Maungdaw townshipinjuring seven young boys.
